What He Knows that I Don’t Know

Sleet, snow, and temps in the teens. We wouldn’t let her leave because we knew what she didn’t.

Pretty Girl showed up for a slumber party one Thursday night. We wouldn’t let her leave Friday morning because rain was coming. She doesn’t show up when it’s raining. We don’t know where she stays, but we knew that temps were going to drop that night turning rain into freezing rain and then sleet and snow. Temps over the weekend would drop into the teens and not warm above freezing until Tuesday.

She hung out in the house all day Friday, but that night was like having a baby again. She cried to go out at 2:00 AM and then again at 4:00 AM.

Saturday night by midnight she cried again. She sleeps under the bed in our guest room. So I took her to her room and closed the door. Then I couldn’t hear her cry. Sounds mean, but she went to sleep. (Don’t worry. She had food, water, and a cat box.) I opened the door Sunday morning, but she didn’t come out until late Sunday afternoon. I guess she slept pretty well.

This reminded me how God knows the big picture. He knows what the future holds. I can act like Pretty Girl wanting what I want when I want it. Or I can trust His wisdom and His provision. If we only knew what God knows.

Scripture tells me to trust Him. He knows His plans, He knows what is best, and my best decision is to trust Him.

When do you find it hard to trust?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).
