The Day After Love
He loves me!
He loves me not!
He loves me!
He loves me not!
He loves me!
Maybe you received flowers or chocolate or perfume for Valentine’s Day this year. Maybe you didn’t. Maybe you received a beautiful card expressing love. Maybe you didn’t. Maybe you were wrapped up in a big, warm hug.
These are great expressions of love that might be true or might not. You know where I’m going with this. No greater love than God’s love. But sometimes even that doesn’t feel real. Our emotions are so, well, emotional. They are based on feelings versus fact. Doubt versus truth.
One morning I asked God to show me how much He loved me that day. While sitting at a stoplight, I noticed the license plate in front of me was 7X70. The number seven – perfection, along with X’s and O’s. Maybe no one else would have seen it that way. But to me it was God answering my prayer.
A few days later I asked again. So here I am looking for more license plates that say I Love You. Silly me. As I came over a small hill (nothing large in my part of the state), there was a tree that had been trimmed (or should I say chopped) right through the middle around power lines. Most trees that are cut back around power lines look awkward, but this one was full of leaves on the branches which remained. It formed the perfect image of the bottom of a heart. I’m probably the only one that saw it. Thank you, Lord.
I see that tree on my drive to work every day. It has filled in some, and now it looks like hands cupped together holding something precious. They are holding my heart as God once again expresses His love to me.
I continue to see the wonders of God’s love in His creation whenever I am aware and sometimes by surprise. It could be a beautiful rainbow after the rain. It could be a cloudless blue sky or beautiful puffy white clouds. There are so many ways God shows us His love.
Of course, the greatest way God expresses His love is through His word.
Start with the Bible, and then I challenge you to look around today for an expression of God’s love just for you. I’d love for you to tell me about it here.
